Hiking at Wa'ahila Ridge

Thursday 02 April 2009 at 11:12 am Zacharias, an ICC student from the Cambridge Advanced Exam class (CAE), went hiking at the Wa'ahila Ridge State Recreation Area last Saturday with a group of ICC students led by ICC instructor and EC Coordinator Jennifer Coffey.

Located on the very top of Saint Louis Heights, the drive to the park entrance is barely two miles from ICC - Hawaii is one of the few places in the world where you're minutes from both the mountains and the beach! Wa'ahila Ridge State Recreation Area lies within a Norfolk Island pine forest and provides excellent views of the Manoa and Palolo valleys. Wa'ahila Ridge Trail begins here in ironwood and guava trees. It traverses alternately between open ridge and forest as it gradually ascends up the ridge between Manoa and Palolo Valleys. It offers spectacular views of Manoa, Palolo, Honolulu and the Ko'olau Range. The trail covers 2.4 miles with options to link to other trails.

Thanks for the great picture Zacharias!
